Max as Baby Yoda

About the Project

After watching “The Mandalorian,” I couldn’t resist transforming my dog Max into Baby Yoda (aka Grogu) for my 2020 Christmas card.

For the costume, I found a child-sized headband with Baby Yoda ears. I bought a large Baby Yoda stuffed toy for my nephew and borrowed its outfit, which fit Max perfectly.

I used free 3D models for the pod and frog in Blender.

For the background on the front of the card, I reused my Milky Way photo taken in Sedona. I composited several photos I took out west during a road trip for the panorama desert background. I recreated the snowflakes from my sweater in Illustrator for the background pattern on the back of the card.

My mom helped with the photo shoot, which lasted over an hour. When we called it quits, Max pawed at the camera, begging us to take just a few more pictures. He’s such a ham!

I created matching stickers and magnets to accompany the gatefold cards.

The cards ended up being so popular, I later repurposed the images for valentines.
